Amazfit Bip Smartwatch Review – You need one!

We all have lazy days, right? Some days are harder than others to keep up the daily activity high enough.

This little device is working for me like magic. I check my activity from my wrist and if it doesn’t look the way I want, I have to do some changes to reach my goals.

If you are not interested the most advanced smart which doesn’t cost you a lot, but it has great feature-rich fitness tracker with long battery life and notifications. Then this is for you too!

  • Price: $79,99 (retail)
  • Cheapest Place to Buy: Amazon.com
  • Product Dimensions: 9.7 x 1.4 x 0.4 inches
  • Item Weight: 1.1oz (32g)
  • Color: cinnabar red, kokoda green, onyx black, white cloud
  • My Rating: 8.9 out of 10

Why did I choose Amazfit Bip?

OK. I have always been a friend with smart watches. I love to track my activity and it gives me a huge boost to jump off the couch when I feel a bit lazy.

At first, I came across to this Amazfit Bip smart watch about half a year ago. I was immediately surprised with the price of it and that’s why I got really interested. When I heard about sleeping tracker and long battery life, I was already sold!

Suitable for any outfit, so you can use it anywhere!

It looks a lot like Apple watch, but it is much cheaper and longer battery life. Amazfit Bips battery can hold up even for 45 days with fewer notifications and up to 30 days with regular use! I have had smart watches before but no one has topped this one! Imagine that you don’t have to charge your watch than once in a month, luxury!

This watch works with Android and also with Apple IOS devices.

Comfort and Design

This has Apple Watch look alike design with much reasonable pricing. Its smooth and soft silicone band fits to all of kind wrists. The watch is so light, only 1.1 oz (32g), so it feels almost like a toy! However, it has wide enough screen to properly use. The display of it is 1,28 inch, 176 x 176 pixel color screens is working with low resolution and always on.

Don’t let this information of its weight fool you. This feather weighted watch is made for hold up to tear and wear. Also, it has an IP68 dust and water rating, which means it is protected from dust and can be used in up to 5 feet of water even for 30 minutes.

It comes with in four different colors: cinnabar red, kokoda green, onyx black and white cloud. It is sporty looking but designed so well that I’m using that anywhere! You can also change the strap for matching your outfits, because the strap is a standard 20 millimeters.

At day times, I use this watch with same back light all the time. Although, you can change it to its fullest at the day time and lower it to the dimmest setting when its time to go to sleep. There is no auto brightness. It is easy to switch it with few swipes and tapping.

Interface

Awesome thing about this Amazfit Bip smart watch its proprietary OS in conjunction with the Mi Fit companion app for Android and IOS. You can sync Mi Fit with the watch and its takes control of recording and tracking, and even links to the Apple Health app.

It is really simple to use. First, you just click the crown to unlock the smart watch. At start, you will see the main face, you just keep swiping to the left for other operations and tapping the one you need for more details.

Swiping up on the main face, you can access to your calls, messages, emails or whatever you have compounded with the watch. You can read the messages but you can not respond to them. In other hand, if you want not to be disturbed, you can swipe up and disable the notifications.

The Status pane lets you access current stats for heart rate, steps, distance you traveled, calories burned and if you have been sitting too long time in a row. The Weather pane let you know the current conditions of weather and with swiping up reveals the forecast for next five days.

There are ways you can set alerts for milestones like for example if your pace is too slow or too fast or how long you have traveled.

This Smart Watch has a haptic sensor which vibrates when a message or call comes in. Although, it is quite subtle and it won’t disturb your doings.

My watch is automatically paired with my Oneplus via Bluetooth. However, you need to keep your phone about 30 feet of your watch to main the connection.

Mi Fit App and how to use it

This awesome Mi Fit App is phone-based which can measure outdoor activities like running, walking, cycling and also treadmill. With this app you can track your steps, location, distance and lots of other information.

With GPS, heart rate monitor and pedometer paired with the Mi Fit app, you can keep track your daily activities and set different kind of progress goals for yourself. The watch is recording your pace with or without GPS. Amazfit Bips GPS has proved accurate. I have to admit, I didn’t give it much trust at first (because its cheap price) but I tested it comparing distance from my friends smart watch and my phones activity tracker and it really works!

You can set the device to take continuing heart rate readings. I’m keeping it this way all the time and it decreases the battery life a bit but I think the information from it is more important. From my knowledge, the heart rate monitor isn’t the best one but it is proved reasonably accurate.

Track your sleep with Amazfit Bip

The sleeping tracker is my favorite one! It has made my sleeping much better because I can really track how I sleep and do I sleep enough. You can see from this pic my result from one night sleep. It tells me that I have slept for 9h 10m with 6h 08m light sleep (67%) and 3h 01m deep sleep (33%). I have really worked for my sleeping habits and I can believe this is accurate.

Huge benefit about this watch is its battery life. Amazfit Bip has 190 mAh lithium-polyer battery and it promises to last 45 days with regular use, which includes sleep monitoring and activity tracker. It will eat more power if you are using GPS and heart rate monitoring continuously. However, I made a test and kept these two on and after two weeks of use, Bip’s battery meter was at 45%.

I highly recommend this to YOU

Amazfit Bip is one of the least-expensive activity and fitness tracker with both heart rate monitor and GPS. Can you imagine, price under 80$! It has a great companion app and its compatible with Android and iOS.

This kind of Apple Watch looking smart watch has lots of features and it is much cheaper. If you find this interesting and suitable for your daily use, you can buy your own Amazfit Bip from Amazon, behind this link! It is a steal!

  1. Wow, Mira, great review of this fitness watch. I love it!

I know a few people with the apple watch but they are so expensive. This is a wonderful alternative. And the fact that the battery lasts so long is great. I hate having to recharge things so often.

I’m definitely checking this one out!

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

    1. Hey Suzanne!

I definitely agree with you! It is so annoying to recharge it all the time! But with this you don’t have to worry about it. I don’t even remember when was the last time I charged my watch, sometime in last year 😀 How awesome is that?

  2. Great post! I’m in the market for a new watch. I’m so glad I found your page because it really narrow my options on buying what I actually need.

  3. Thanks Mira for the information. I thought about getting a Fitbit a few times, but always changed my mind as I did not think I would get enough value for the money and I did not really know what all it could do. After reading your article I am going to check out the Amazfit Bip.

  4. Thank you for this, I had not heard about this one, and I like to keep up.

I’ve used Fitbit before and currently use an Apple Watch. I actually still use the FitBit Ionic for sleep tracking since the Apple Watch, as much as I like it, doesn’t come with a built-in sleep tracker, and for good reason: Chances are you’re charging your battery at night!

Very nice review, this sounds like a real option for people on a budget!

    1. Hey Jon!

      Thank you!

You are absolutely right! Normally you have to charge your watch’s battery at night! I just love Amazfit Bips sleep tracking and battery life! 🙂 have a great week!

  5. Amazing price for a smartwatch! I’ve never heard of Amazfit Bip before but it sounds like it has all the same features as any smartwatches that can cost more than 10x that price. I’m really interested in the sleep monitoring feature as I am still waiting to have a sleep study. My main concern about sleep is to see whether I have sleep apnea. Do you know if it somehow can register how I am breathing? Is there some sort of algorithm they can use to determine respiration according to heart rate? Thanks

    1. Hey Paul!

It is only showing your light and deep sleep, so if you have sleep apnea, you probably won’t have a lot of deep sleep. Hope you will find that out if you have it. Good luck 🙂

  6. Thanks for this review on AMAZFIT BIP SMARTWATCH. I have been looking into some wrist watches online but recently decided to go for a smart watch. This really peak my interest in all the smartwatch I have been seeing and I think I’m going to go for it. What amazes me more is the number of days it can be used without charging, 45days, I think that’s awesome.

    1. Hey!

I know! I love this smartwatch because I don’t have to charge it all the time to keep it alive! 🙂 Later on, tell me how does it work for you when you have bought it! 🙂 Thanks for your comment and have a great weekend!
