Buy a Power Plate – You should Know This First
If I would say that you could improve flexibility, muscle strength and boost your circulation by simply standing still, you’d probably laugh at me, right? Yet, it is really true! All of those and much more health benefits can be yours if you choose to stand on a Power Plate!
This amazing product is a favorite of many celebrities including, Cindy Crawford, Madonna and Clint Eastwood, so should you give it a try too?
I have worked with this awesome device for over five years and it has helped a lot of my customers and even me. In 2015, I successfully completed the Certified Power Plate Trainer (CPPT) Pathway: Power Plate Fundamentals. And now, I’m going to tell you why you should use this awesome machine also!
What is Power Plate?
Vibration for whole body was first used by cosmonauts to combat bone and muscle loss caused by extended stays in zero gravity. Nowadays, Power Plate has continued developing the technology and created products and training programs that deliver legendary performance for professional sports teams, health clubs, medical facilities, studios and individuals around the world.
People of all physical abilities and ages trust Power Plate to bring their bodies into harmony, the place where health, wellness and physical performance are all in balance and working together perfectly. As the world’s leader in whole body vibration technology, Power Plate has been linked to a huge range of wellness and health benefits, from strength, flexibility and balance. Also, weight loss to improved circulation, detoxification, pain reduction, stress alleviation and even reduction of cellulite.
The benefits of the Power Plate are based on the 3D vibration produced by the device, which, depending on the settings, allows 25-50 muscle-independent muscle contractions per second. Those vibrations are really harmonic, controlled and consistent, moving in three different directions (up and down, side to side and forwards and backwards).
Strength training both alone and in combination with vibration training improves body composition. Practice does not change the amount of body fat, but the fat percentage decreases as the amount of muscle mass increases.
Power Plate training allows you to practice your training sessions with significantly shorter periods. The average exercise takes only 20-30 minutes.
Power Plate is also suitable for rehabilitation. A person who is in poor condition, unable to exercise normal muscular movements, can get positive training experiences. Using Power Plate on the right, even with static drills, gives you significant training effects.
How to use it?
Power Plate promises, that a 25-30 minute session, is apparently equal an hour and a half of weightlifting! It improves your flexibility, strength and blood circulation, while reducing cellulite, loss of muscle and recovery time from injuries.
I have used this on my workouts, since I started my personal trainer career. It is simply a deliberately unstable platform which stimulates your muscles and helps maximize the effect of body weight exercises.
To start, you set a level of vibration and a time, and just hop on it. Start doing the same moves that you normally do on the floor. I have noticed that with each exercise the burn is much more pronounced than I feel without Power Plate.
Avoid standing straight on it, because you will feel the vibration on your head and your vision goes blurry.
Doing squats and static squats on a Power Plate is awful but it really does the job. You will hate the stairs afterward, so it really works well.
So why should you use it?
Save time: Your time is precious. Get the exercises done by shorter time as effectively.
Muscle strength: Doing exercises with Power Plate, for example press-ups and a plank will bring faster results as your arms, core and chest will work harder just to stay in position. Over time, you will see results in bigger and defined muscles.
Increase mineral density and bone mass: You can improve bone density without adding load to the body, which will help the body defend against osteoporosis. Machine is kind to your joint’s so it is suitable for all abilities and ages.
Increase mobility and flexibility: Doing stretches on Power Plate, has been shown to be more effective than stretching alone.
Improve balance: The vibrations are forcing your body to work harder to maintain stability and balance. Therefore, over time the muscles in your pelvis, abdomen and back will get stronger.
Blood circulation: I have used Power Plate also to get massages. Research has shown that relaxing massages with Power Plate can significantly increase blood circulation in your legs and arms. This will help you remove waste products, for example lactic acid, from your muscles and that way you can recover quicker.
Cellulite: This will blow your mind! Studies has shown that six months of Power Plate training reduced cellulite on thighs and buttocks by a massive 32,3%!!
Here is quick workout for you. Do every exercise for 30-60 seconds and 3-4 rounds.
- Squat: step on a plate and stand with knees slightly bent and focus engaging your abs. You can either do squats like normal way or just hold your squat.
- Push-up: Place your both hands on plate and start doing push-ups. You can do this with straight body or your knees on the floor.
- Lunges: Place you other leg on plate and start doing lunges. For variations, you can do lunges facing yourself towards, backwards or sideways the Power Plate.
- Plank: Place your both elbows on the plate and legs on the floor. You can do this also other way around, place your feet on the plate and elbows on the floor.
In your rest days or after the workout, you can try massages for example:
- Massage for calves: lie down on the floor and place your lower legs on the plate. If you need more pressure, you can place GRID Foam Roller under your calves. You can really feel the tension on your muscles.
- Massage for thighs: Sit down on the plate with your legs open. Stretch yourself forward and towards to each of your legs.
- Massage for arms: Go down alongside the machine and rest an arm on the Power Plate, one at the time.

Rehabilitation and illnesses
With age, body composition changes. In post-menopausal women, hormonal changes lead to the accumulation of fat in the middle body, which in turn can lead to metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. Muscle mass is also lost with age and mobility and disability are impaired.
Although strength training has been found to maintain and even increase muscle mass and strength, its effect on adipose tissue has been reduced. Intense hard-power strength training is not suitable for every one, for example those with osteoarthritis. So alternative ways of influencing the body composition are needed.
Vibration training has been studied in recent years as an interesting form of training. In theory, the vibration may even multiply the power of the strength training provided that the workload caused by the training is feasible and safe.
The health benefits of this training have brought significant positive changes in the lives of many people and have received MDD certification. This means that these devices have been approved as medical devices in EU countries.
Under the guidance of a physiotherapist, a seriously ill or disabled person can be find the joy of exercise while improving the quality of life and physical performance without pain. Among the many patients with MS, osteoporosis and Parkinson’s, among others, have found great help with this kind of training. Continuous scientific research on Power Plate practice helps to demonstrate its benefits to different user groups.
